GENERALS
Both the Adrenaline and Sesia Gorges rafting trips are considered medium-difficulty excursions. While both take place on Class III/IV rapids, they differ significantly in their environmental and riverbed characteristics, making them two distinctly unique experiences.Adrenaline Rafting: You will navigate a stretch of river that alternates between wavy rapids featuring "holes" (hydraulics), highly technical rapids, and calmer recovery sections where you can catch your breath.Sesia Gorges Rafting: You will have the opportunity to paddle through the famous Sesia Gorges—an adventurous route in a spectacular setting. Featuring shorter, more technical rapids, this section will also introduce you to "portaging" a rapid: an essential maneuver on foot to safely bypass the famous unrunnable section of the Sesia Gorges."
It is an adrenaline-pumping activity, but it is managed with strict safety protocols: certified guides, a comprehensive safety briefing before the descent, top-quality technical equipment (wetsuit, splash jacket, helmet, and life jacket), and the careful selection of the river section based on skill level, age, and current river conditions.
You do not need to be a swimmer to go rafting! Both your neoprene wetsuit and your life jacket are designed to help you stay afloat effortlessly. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and at ease in the water. You can leave everything else to our expert Guides, who will ensure your safety and enjoyment throughout the entire experience!

However, this is subject to approval based on current river water levels and joining a suitable group.

The first thing to know is that your booking time marks the actual start of your activity. For this reason, we recommend arriving at least 30 minutes early: this gives us plenty of time to welcome you at reception and get you fitted with your gear in a relaxed atmosphere. At the scheduled time, you will head out with our Guides in our vans for a short transfer (about 18 minutes) to the selected section of the Sesia River. Once at the put-in point, after the safety briefing and a short theory lesson, you’ll put on your life jacket and helmet, and you’ll be ready to go!The descent always starts with a 'water confidence' test—a jump or a quick dip :)—which is essential to help your wetsuit warm up. Then, it's straight into the rapids! At the end of the descent, our van will bring you back to the Alpin Rider Center in Mollia for a well-deserved hot shower and, why not, a delicious Exo Burger ;).
The best spots for rafting in Valsesia are located along the upper section of the Sesia River, considered the European capital of whitewater sports. The most iconic and popular stretches run from Balmuccia to Morca or Varallo, as well as from Scopa to Balmuccia for the highly spectacular and adventurous "Gole" (Gorges) section.Other key sections include the final stretch down to Varallo, which features decreasing difficulty, and the rapids downstream of Piode for more experienced paddlers. At the Alpin Rider Center base, we organize guided descents through the most thrilling and safest parts of the river, suitable for both families and beginners, as well as adrenaline seekers.
